Congratulations to John LaBrie
John LaBrie, Past President of NAAASS and past interim Executive Secretary, has been appointed Dean of the of College of Professional Studies and Vice President for Professional Education. John has been serving as Interim Dean since May 2010.
In the announcement, Stephen W. Director, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, wrote, "Since assuming the interim role nearly two years ago, John has overseen the ongoing expansion—in depth and quality—of CPS programs, and has played a continuing and important part in planning for Northeastern’s first regional campuses in Charlotte and Seattle. He is a leader in continuing education whose experience in professional and graduate-program development, online and on-site education, and global collaboration matches the accomplishments and aspirations of the college."
Prior to joining CPS as a senior fellow in the doctorate of education program, John served as dean of continuing studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he led the largest continuing education university program in western Canada. In addition to his many years of service to NAASS, his professional leadership roles include accreditation review teams in Canada and program and management reviews of continuing education programs in the United States.
John holds an undergraduate degree in French from the University of Maine in Fort Kent, a master’s degree in administration from St. Michael’s College in Vermont, and a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
