Conference and Program Planning Committee

The Committee's core is comprised of a representative of the past year's conference host committee, a represen-tative of the current year's conference host committee, a representative of next year's conference host committee, the President, the President-Elect, the Executive Secretary, the Treasurer (for financial consultations only), and other delegates as appointed by the chair.

The chair of the Committee will be the President-Elect. The Committee is charged with the solicitation and review of sites for the Annual Conference, with final recommendations being made to the full Administrative Council. It is also charged with the development and implementation of the Annual Conference program.

It approves, encourages and/or sponsors other regional programs or program activities undertaken by other groups of the Association.


Creative and Innovative Awards Committee

The Committee is responsible for preparing a yearly notice to the membership - at least three months prior to the Annual Conference - that elicits abstracts describing creative and innovative summer programming conducted by member institutions. After an initial review of all submitted abstracts, the Committee determines the winning entries (at the Annual Conference site) based on creativity, uniqueness, success and impact, and adaptability.

Two awards are presented each year, based on the size of the school. One for small schools (having an academic year enrollment of 7,500 or less), and the other is for large schools (those with an enrollment of 7,501 or more).

The Committee is advisory to the Administrative Council and is responsible for establishing and reviewing the financial goals of the Association.

It ensures an annual audit and review of the financial records, reviews the annual budget - as proposed by the Treasurer in consultation with the Ad-ministrative Council - monitors the annual expenditures in light of the proposed budget, makes recommendations pertaining to line item amounts in the budget, and the cash balances and investments of the Association.

The Committee shall consist of members appointed for three-year terms plus the Treasurer.

The Committee is responsible for enhancing the knowledge and skills of higher education professionals involved in summer and special programs by promoting the exchange of information and providing a wide range of professional development opportunities, sufficient to cover the most significant and emerging issues identified by the Administrative Council. The Committee shall be charged with the development and maintenance of a best practice manual.

The Committee shall also be responsible for final editorial and editing supervision of the Association's various print and online publications.

The Committee is responsible for reviving former memberships that have lapsed, identifying additional colleges and universities as potential new members, and strives to recruit at least 25 new members each year.

Nominations and Elections Committee

The Committee is responsible for soliciting nominations from the membership, nominating candidates to fill each routinely vacated office and pro-viding for the election, by mail, of officers, Regional Vice Presidents, and At-Large Members of the Administrative Council.

The Committee also considers nominations for Honorary Life Members and candidates for the Distinguished Service Award.


Quality and Research Committee

The role of the Committee is to guide, direct, and provide advocacy for the Association's research initiatives. It accomplishes this charge through the annual review and selection of research priorities, supervision, and peer review of research proposals and scholarly articles, and it collaborates with various other standing and ad hoc committees within the Association where issues of research, assessment, and evaluation are concerned.

The chair of the Committee shall also serve as NAASS's representative to the Theresa Neil Memorial Fund Committee.

The editor of Summer Academe shall be a standing member of the Committee.
